NorthStone Art & Jewellery evolved from a passion for all things Northern as well as a love of natural gemstones.
Having grown up on the west coast of Scotland before travelling all over the world with work and living in South East England for a while, eventually the North beckoned again.
I have always been fascinated by landscapes and culture, history and folklore, its effects on lives through the centuries, and how art has mirrored the priorities of the day. You will often see references to history or locations in my descriptions, whether fact or legend, telling you where my inspiration for the project came from.
My first jewellery designs were completed when I was living in Northumberland, with one of the most rugged coastlines in Britain. My original Lindisfarne designs were inspired by the Holy Island itself, with my signature 'Causeway Cobble' chain reminding me of the cobblestones leading across the sea at low tide. From a small jewellery collection, this journey has evolved to include sculpting and mixed media artwork, teaching and design.
Having now returned north of the border to the Solway Coast, you can expect to see more Celtic influences come into my projects.
I run art workshops in wire weaving, mixed media and sculpting from beginner to advanced level. I am mainly based in South West Scotland and Cumbria but happy to come to you by arrangement.
